SHOULD CHRISTIANS VOTE?

SHOULD CHRISTIANS VOTE?
There seem to be a lot of Christophobics (people who fear Christians) out there. They believe Christians should go to the church, sit in their pews, listen to the preacher preach (nice things of course) and go home, making no attempt to do what Christians are called to do– be light and salt (Mt 5:13-16). They think any attempt to carry out the Great Commission (Mt 28:18-20) should be a crime. Anyone who desires to be a leader should take an oath not to allow any “religious” (read Christian) values cloud his decisions. This could become a reality if “We the people” elect leaders who cater to the sinful nature of man and popular opinion. If the Bible is true, Christians have the responsibility and fortunately the right (so far) to spread that Truth with love (Eph. 4:14-16). Christophobics like to portray Christians as “intolerant” or “hateful”. Christians are called to love people enough to let them know that they may be making decisions with eternal consequences; doing this while respecting the right of others to chose. What is really expected of those who profess to believe the two greatest commandments - love God and love your neighbor (Mt.22:37-40)? When Christians vote there are some issues that they should consider more important than healthcare, social security, the economy, and the war in Iraq. A righteous government exists to promote good and restrain evil (Ro. 13:1-7). Whether we like it or not, government determines morality. Some issues “Christians” should consider are: Godly morals and values, what our children learn in school, marriage, family, God’s law vs. man’s law, and sanctity of human life. Is it possible that God holds Christians responsible to elect leaders who stand for His values?  What if the Bible is true?
The Real Issues
Vote for: The best debater – the war on terror will be won at the debating table. Vote for: Whoever will provide everything at no cost or sacrifice to you – health care, education, housing, euthanasia, etc. – should we be responsible for our own welfare? Vote for: The one who will increase tax on those who work hard and sacrifice to develop and own a business – no businesses - fewer jobs; we would not have to work. Vote for: The one who will protect your “rights” to – pornography, marriage (group, polygamy, gay), internet porn, violent and intense sexual TV, abortion on demand (paid for), and abortion without parental consent for teens. Vote for: The one who will make sure we are all tolerant and accepting of whatever anyone wants to do - after all there is no absolute truth or right or wrong. Vote for: The one who will protect us from – the Ten Commandments, public prayer, right wing conspiracies, Christians and the Bible. Vote for: The one who will relieve you of responsibility – the government knows best concerning raising children, education, etc. Vote for: The one who will appoint judges who will make the law and interpret the Constitution - congress or the people are not capable. Vote for: The one who will verify everything at a UN, world summit, or public opinion poll - we can’t trust the CIA, FBI, Foreign Intelligence, mass graves, or testimonies of those tortured.  Vote for: The one who will make no errors in judgment whose decisions are always correct. Vote for: The one who understands Christophobia (fear of Christians) and will protect us from all the false teachings of the Bible. It was the best of times - it was the worst of times...and “We” the people voted. What if the Bible is true?

Why Pain and Suffering

Why Pain and Suffering

Pain and suffering are a fact of life. Why? Couldn’t God have created us in a place where there was no pain and suffering? He did! Pain and suffering were unknown in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 1:31; 3:17-19) In His sovereignty He created man with a free will – the ability to choose. “But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.”(Psalm 115:3). What an awesome gift! Herein lies the seed of pain and suffering – CHOICE. Choices have consequences. Most of us have questioned our existence, God’s purpose, eternity, etc. God created us for a purpose. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) We have a purpose and our Father desires to bless us. Whether or not we receive that blessing is our choice. He didn’t create us and hope we would discover how to please Him; He gave us the Bible (the infallible, inspired, authoritative word of God - the Manufacturer’s Handbook) to reveal to us how to make choices. He established spiritual and physical boundaries for us to live by, e.g., natural laws such as the law of gravity and spiritual laws such as the Ten Commandments. If these boundaries are violated the result is pain and suffering for others and ourselves.

Consider five reasons for pain and suffering: ME – I can make choices that will cause me (and indirectly others) pain and suffering. Examples: jumping over a cliff, smoking, pornography, sexual immorality, gambling, laziness, etc. 2. OTHERS – others make choices that may cause you pain and suffering. Examples: murder, abortion, adultery, stealing, gossip, slander, anger, etc. 3. SIN – because of man’s disobedience the Bible tells us that all of creation is in turmoil. Examples: earthquakes, tornados, disease, mutations, etc. (Romans 8:18-22) 4. SATAN – He goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:8). He has come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). 5. GOD – “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and punishes everyone He accepts as a son.” (Hebrews 12:4b-6).

Living with freedom of choice requires discipline as well as the understanding that we alone are responsible for our choices. With every choice there is a consequence – good or bad, they go hand in hand. Remember the Law of the Harvest, “ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7)

Christian counseling encourages individuals to set “boundaries” and make “choices” established by God that will enable them to find the fruit of the Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) What if the Bible (the Manufacturer’s Handbook) is true?

The Prayer of the Prophet Daniel Adapted for America

I received the attached prayer (also below) from a friend this morning and immediately knew I must forward it to whosoever will hear. I sense the time is short that our nation is about to experience the whole wrath of the Lord. All who profess to know Christ and to be His followers must prepare ourselves and warn those around us. If you are a true follower of Christ please hear and consider the scripture verses cited below. We have been called - there are no others - it is time to put away the traditions and doctrines of man and to unite as His witnesses. It is NOT about denomination, it is not about Commentaries, it is not about feeling good - IT IS ABOUT being light and salt!
WE ARE THE CALLED OUT ONES THERE ARE NO OTHERS! IF NOT ME WHO? IF NOT NOW WHEN?
Please prayerfully consider the scripture verses below before the Lord - you have been created for a purpose. (Ephesians 2:10)

PLEASE READ THE EMAIL BELOW FOR THE ORIGINS OF THIS PRAYER --- PBOB

The Prayer of the Prophet Daniel Adapted for America
"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our Presidents, our politicians and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
We have become the most evil abominable and adulterous generation in the history of mankind. We have had your word and Gospel message yet we have turned away from you. We commit every kind of sin known to man: abortion, murder, pornography, adultery, pedophilia, child abuse, drug use, homosexuality and more. Yet we thumb our noses at you and pretend you don’t exist.
We allow every form of so-called religion into this great nation of yours and then demand that your name be removed from everything. O Lord, we have sinned more than anyone before us.
We think in our hearts that you don’t see what we are doing, but you know everything. We are deserving of every judgment you are ready to pour out on us, but we ask you for mercy. All your true believers unite in prayer asking for your mercy upon our land.
"Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the men and people of all America because of our unfaithfulness to you. O LORD, we and our Presidents, our politicians and our fathers are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; we have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All America has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.
"Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, will be poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. You will fulfill the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what will be done to America. Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The LORD will not hesitate to bring disaster upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.
"Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of Europe with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. O Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from America, your people, your holy place. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made America and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.
“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your land. Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the condition of the country that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your country and your people bear your Name."

Scriptures to prayerfully consider before the Lord ...
by PBob

1. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

(Joh 17:20-23 KJV)
a. Have you ever considered how the world must view "christianity" today?
b. Given the emphasis on the traditions of men, commentaries and "church" doctrine - do you think the world sees any real unity?
c. What do you suppose Jesus meant when He said, "... that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."?
2. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
(Mat 5:10-15 KJV)
a. Do you think that Jesus expected that those who do His will would be rewarded on this earth or persecuted? Perhaps the degree to which you are being persecuted for Him is in direct proportion to your obedience???
b. What did Jesus mean by, "Ye are the salt of the earth....Ye are the light of the world..."?
c. Do you think the "Church" is hidden away behind the walls of a building?

3. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

(Rom 14:13-19 KJV)
a. How should we react to those who have different "holy days" or dietary laws or ways of worship?
b. Did Jesus start any denominations? Insist on any traditions of men? Command us to obey the priest, rabbi, minister, Pope, "church"?
c. Where does the TRUTH really come from.... man? Denominations? Those with doctorates in theology? What does the Word say about the Holy Spirit?
d. Who is approved of God?

4. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

(Joh 15:16-20 KJV)
a. How much credit do you get for choosing Jesus?
b. Who gives us our marching orders?
c. What do you suppose Jesus meant by "...go and bring forth fruit,..."?
d. If you do His will how do you expect the world to react? Why?
History of this prayer: Everyone is quite familiar with the fact that America is destined for severe judgment from the Lord.
Recently I was reading from the book of Daniel and was reminded of the prayer he was praying in chapter 9 which was near the end of the Babylonian exile. Moved by the Lord to recite this prayer for the US, I copied it to my computer and made some minor changes such as putting in America where Jerusalem and Israel are in the original text.
I also added some parts relating to the way America is right now. I am not changing the Bible; I am merely taking the prayer of a righteous man and applying it to America. I have attached the prayer to this email and am asking everyone to pray this prayer for America as much as possible.
I know some have been told not to pray for America anymore. However, I do feel that this urging to pray came to me from the Lord.
If you feel lead to pray also, fine. If not, ok. I will be praying this prayer daily until something changes drastically in America or until the Lord takes us home via the Rapture or the judgment begins...
Remember the words from 2 Chronicles: If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways and seek my face, then I will hear from heaven and will heal their land."
We don't have much time to pray for this nation as everyone knows.
May 1 is the national day of prayer: I am calling on all to begin now.
Won't you join me and send this to all you know? God Bless, David G. Komatz [mailto:dgkomatz@hotmail.com]

I find it interesting that Adolf Hitler proposed two official slogans, "Politics do not belong in the church." and "The church must be separate from the state." (Ref. "The Nazi Persecution of the Churches, 1933-1945, by John S. Conway)
