Forgive me as I rant but I would not be doing this if I did not fear for our Nation and for the freedoms and safety of my children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I never thought at 73 years of age I would be writing anything like this to someone in our government.

My dad served in the USMC and landed on Iwo Jima in Feb of 1945 receiving a Purple Heart - to protect our nation and our freedoms. I served in the USMCR for the same purpose. Now I am watching our country and its Constitution go down the tubes as our so called representatives (most) and our President either do nothing to protect our God given rights or spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to placate liberal progressives and  Islamic (yes Muslim) terrorists and their rights.

Wake-up - you will never be able to meet their evil demands and you will never be safe as long as they are allowed to think that they can infiltrate our nation through unprotected and insecure borders. Without some kind of value system such as the Ten Commandments - everyman will be doing what is right in their own eyes and we will all weep what they sow.  You know who will call the shots? - those with power, money and influence! Have you ever considered that , "Man is basically evil"??? If not just take a few History courses. All you have to do is read History....DUH!! The Crusades, as evil as they were, began in 1095 and ended in 1291. Read about them http://www.history.com/topics/crusades - you may be enlightened as to why we are again facing Islamic terrorists around the world.

Why are you in Washington (Government) anyway.... to represent us and defend our Constitution or to get rich and smile on TV. Yes I am upset and believe me I am not the only one. I assure you I will die first before I let some progressive liberal politician take my guns.  This is not a threat, I am a peaceful patriotic American who loves my Country and my God but unless "We the people" defend our rights I am afraid that they will not be protected under this administration and with the representatives (most) that are currently in Congress.

Don't you understand that the death rate among all humans including politicians and patriotic citizens is 100%? Personally, I believe that each of us will be judged by an all knowing, all powerful, ever present God - if you don't believe this, then at least consider what freedom means. Our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution do a GREAT job in explaining it.

Consider this, I once had a young lady say to me, "Abortion must be ok and right because the Government approves and will even help me pay for it."

As a leader, one that may be looked to for guidance and as a role model, are you ready to answer for the example you are providing and the  decisions you are making....cause one day you will.

Let me stress one more time - I am a frustrated American who firmly believes that what our Fathers and Forefathers fought and died for is being taken from us as those we have freely (so far) elected seem to be representing their Political Parties, their own agenda, their hopes of being reelected, their contributors, etc. while anyone with any "brains" can see that if something is not done soon to get back to "One Nation Under God" than we are all going to be weeping.

Please don't call me a redneck or Bible thumping idiot...I happen to have a BS, two Masters Degrees, a PhD in Medical Biochemistry, experience in industry and leadership as well as being a Pastor of a small rural Church.  Please, you do not have to agree with all I have said but at least consider it. You have been warned. (Ezekiel 33)

Thank you for writing, and for your family's service and sacrifice.  I appreciate the thoughtful messages I receive from Americans with deeply‑held views that may not always align with mine.  Dialogue on a broad range of issues is critical to moving forward in areas that matter to all of us.  When we disagree, even fiercely, it doesn’t mean we don’t each love this country and want to make it better. As it has for more than two centuries, progress comes in fits and starts.  It’s not always a straight line or a smooth path, and recognizing we have shared hopes and dreams won’t end all gridlock, solve all problems, or substitute for the painstaking work of building consensus.  But we must find common ground and make difficult compromises to reach a better tomorrow. Have you ever asked yourself, "Why am I here? What is my purpose in life?" Do you know that you...."...are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them...." (Eph 2:10)

You have been given "gifts" by the Holy Spirit to be used to glorify the Lord and to perform the purpose for which you were created. No where in Scripture are we told to go to hire a pastor, go to church, expect him to tell you what to do, make him somehow accountable for your salvation, let him read God's word and tell it to you.......

We (you) are the Body of Christ expected to be that part of the Body that you were created for. If we are to  do and be what God created us for we need to take up those duties that He designed us for......the Body of Christ was never intended to be ruled by one person but to be a group of believers serving one another, loving one another, helping one another, - setting itself apart from the world and focusing on the things of God.

Are you aware? Do you believe that if you..."^... seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matt 6:33).

Brothers and Sisters it is not about religion or denominations or reading the right commentary - it is about having a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus - calling Him Lord and Saviour and doing those things which He has called you to do. YOU are an unrepeatable miracle. You will never be able to stand before the Lord and say, Let me tell you what I did for you." You are responsible to seek His will, say "YES SIR" to Him and do those things for which you were made.
Read 1 Corinthians 12-14 and sit quietly befor the Lord and listen....you WILL be amazed at what He will reveal to you.

Below is a copy of a letter I sent to Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York a few weeks ago regarding the position Gov Cuomo of New York has taken and continues to take on same sex marriage and abortion. The letter included various relevant articles.

Today, June 19, 2013 I received the Cardinal's response. I am quite disappointed in the response. I certainly respect his position within the Roman Catholic Church but find it very difficult to agree with his response. It would seem to me that the role of the Church should be to stand for righteousness regardless of the consequences.

Please pray for both Cardinal Dolan and Gov Cuomo that their hearts would be open to the Holy Spirit.

The Cardinal's response follows my letter.

Note: The following letter has been posted on FaceBook not to embarrass you but to encourage others to voice their thoughts. My prayer is that you would seek the Holy Spirit for TRUTH.

I find it very difficult to write this as I sense that you are a man of God. I am a retired Pastor and a believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I realize we are living in a very difficult time where many pressures are put upon us to be “tolerant” and to be “politically correct”. However, I cannot understand how the Catholic Church can continue to condone the political agenda of one of its more prominent constituents – Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

 

Have you ever thought that there are many people in this world who think that if the government approves something that somehow that makes it right? Even more horrible is the thought that just because a man is in a prominent position he is somehow exempt from the Commandments of God and the Church.

 

I respectfully request that the Catholic Church uphold its own beliefs and excommunicate Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

 

I have tried to find out if any discipline has been taken by the church and it would seem that the answer is NO!

 

Again, I want to emphasize my respect for you, your position and for the Roman Catholic Church.  However, I must, in good conscience, advise you that the decisions you  and the Catholic Church make can and will have eternal effect on individuals that look to people like yourself for guidance as they work out their Salvation with fear and trembling.

 

Please forgive my preaching but – I have a sermon called “Three Great Truths” which asks the congregation to consider the following absolutes – which is not considered politically correct today – NO ABSOLUTES….

1.      The longer we live the older we get.

2.      If we live long enough we do not get out of this alive (Rapture may be the exception)

3.      The death rate among all humans including, Pastors, Cardinals and Politicians is 100%.

Thank you most sincerely for your recent letter, together with enclosures. Your thoughtfulness is deeply appreciated.

 

You should know that I treasure your letter inasmuch as I am rarely

criticized for working too closely with pro-choice elected officials.

 

Permit me to suggest, Father Paquet, that there is a vast difference between working with elected officials, even those who are Catholic and take positions contrary to the Church, so that we can, hopefully, accomplish what we can for the good of the Church  and, on the other hand, supporting them. I don’t believe that any Archbishop of New York, yours truly included, has ever compromised Church teaching to be in good favor with Catholic elected officials who take positions contrary to their faith.

The governor added, repeating three times, “Because it is her body, it is her choice. Because it's her body, it's her choice. Because it's her body, it's her choice.” 

During this week’s radio interview, the host of the show, Fred Dicker, asked Cardinal Dolan how Cuomo “could be a leader on an issue that the Church fundamentally feels so strongly about," namely abortion, and “still be considered a Catholic in good standing?”

“Well, I don’t mind telling you that’s one of the things the governor and I talk about,” Cardinal Dolan responded. “And look, he and I have very grave differences. And this is one of them.”

(CNSNews.com) – In receiving communion at a Mass offered by the Roman Catholic bishop of Albany, NY, that state’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, who supports abortion, gay marriage, and lives with his girlfriend, committed an “objectively sacrilegious” act that “produces grave scandal,” according to Dr. Edward Peters, a top expert in Catholic Church law and a consultant to the highest court at the Vatican.

Peters specifically cited Cuomo's cohabiting with Food Network hostess Sandra Lee as "publicly acting in violation of a fundamental moral expectation of the Church," and that "as long as he persists in such conduct, he should refrain from taking Holy Communion" and "if he approaches for Holy Communion, he should be denied the august sacrament in accord with Canon 915."

Canon 915, from the Church's Code of Canon Law, says that persons “who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, are not to be admitted to holy communion.”

In addition, based on the news reports of the Mass and the sermon given by Bp. Howard Hubbard, the bishop’s remarks constituted “a failure in pastoral care,” said Peters, largely for what the prelate “did not say, than for what he did say.”

“Bp. Hubbard, faced with a prominent Catholic leader of whom, it may be fairly said, there are ‘great expectations,’ did not challenge the governor to begin his reform of the state with a reform of his person,” said Peters.
