SHOULD CHRISTIANS VOTE?

SHOULD CHRISTIANS VOTE?
There seem to be a lot of Christophobics (people who fear Christians) out there. They believe Christians should go to the church, sit in their pews, listen to the preacher preach (nice things of course) and go home, making no attempt to do what Christians are called to do– be light and salt (Mt 5:13-16). They think any attempt to carry out the Great Commission (Mt 28:18-20) should be a crime. Anyone who desires to be a leader should take an oath not to allow any “religious” (read Christian) values cloud his decisions. This could become a reality if “We the people” elect leaders who cater to the sinful nature of man and popular opinion. If the Bible is true, Christians have the responsibility and fortunately the right (so far) to spread that Truth with love (Eph. 4:14-16). Christophobics like to portray Christians as “intolerant” or “hateful”. Christians are called to love people enough to let them know that they may be making decisions with eternal consequences; doing this while respecting the right of others to chose. What is really expected of those who profess to believe the two greatest commandments - love God and love your neighbor (Mt.22:37-40)? When Christians vote there are some issues that they should consider more important than healthcare, social security, the economy, and the war in Iraq. A righteous government exists to promote good and restrain evil (Ro. 13:1-7). Whether we like it or not, government determines morality. Some issues “Christians” should consider are: Godly morals and values, what our children learn in school, marriage, family, God’s law vs. man’s law, and sanctity of human life. Is it possible that God holds Christians responsible to elect leaders who stand for His values?  What if the Bible is true?
The Real Issues
Vote for: The best debater – the war on terror will be won at the debating table. Vote for: Whoever will provide everything at no cost or sacrifice to you – health care, education, housing, euthanasia, etc. – should we be responsible for our own welfare? Vote for: The one who will increase tax on those who work hard and sacrifice to develop and own a business – no businesses - fewer jobs; we would not have to work. Vote for: The one who will protect your “rights” to – pornography, marriage (group, polygamy, gay), internet porn, violent and intense sexual TV, abortion on demand (paid for), and abortion without parental consent for teens. Vote for: The one who will make sure we are all tolerant and accepting of whatever anyone wants to do - after all there is no absolute truth or right or wrong. Vote for: The one who will protect us from – the Ten Commandments, public prayer, right wing conspiracies, Christians and the Bible. Vote for: The one who will relieve you of responsibility – the government knows best concerning raising children, education, etc. Vote for: The one who will appoint judges who will make the law and interpret the Constitution - congress or the people are not capable. Vote for: The one who will verify everything at a UN, world summit, or public opinion poll - we can’t trust the CIA, FBI, Foreign Intelligence, mass graves, or testimonies of those tortured.  Vote for: The one who will make no errors in judgment whose decisions are always correct. Vote for: The one who understands Christophobia (fear of Christians) and will protect us from all the false teachings of the Bible. It was the best of times - it was the worst of times...and “We” the people voted. What if the Bible is true?

Why Pain and Suffering

Why Pain and Suffering

Pain and suffering are a fact of life. Why? Couldn’t God have created us in a place where there was no pain and suffering? He did! Pain and suffering were unknown in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 1:31; 3:17-19) In His sovereignty He created man with a free will – the ability to choose. “But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.”(Psalm 115:3). What an awesome gift! Herein lies the seed of pain and suffering – CHOICE. Choices have consequences. Most of us have questioned our existence, God’s purpose, eternity, etc. God created us for a purpose. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) We have a purpose and our Father desires to bless us. Whether or not we receive that blessing is our choice. He didn’t create us and hope we would discover how to please Him; He gave us the Bible (the infallible, inspired, authoritative word of God - the Manufacturer’s Handbook) to reveal to us how to make choices. He established spiritual and physical boundaries for us to live by, e.g., natural laws such as the law of gravity and spiritual laws such as the Ten Commandments. If these boundaries are violated the result is pain and suffering for others and ourselves.

Consider five reasons for pain and suffering: ME – I can make choices that will cause me (and indirectly others) pain and suffering. Examples: jumping over a cliff, smoking, pornography, sexual immorality, gambling, laziness, etc. 2. OTHERS – others make choices that may cause you pain and suffering. Examples: murder, abortion, adultery, stealing, gossip, slander, anger, etc. 3. SIN – because of man’s disobedience the Bible tells us that all of creation is in turmoil. Examples: earthquakes, tornados, disease, mutations, etc. (Romans 8:18-22) 4. SATAN – He goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:8). He has come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). 5. GOD – “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and punishes everyone He accepts as a son.” (Hebrews 12:4b-6).

Living with freedom of choice requires discipline as well as the understanding that we alone are responsible for our choices. With every choice there is a consequence – good or bad, they go hand in hand. Remember the Law of the Harvest, “ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7)

Christian counseling encourages individuals to set “boundaries” and make “choices” established by God that will enable them to find the fruit of the Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) What if the Bible (the Manufacturer’s Handbook) is true?

The Prayer of the Prophet Daniel Adapted for America

I received the attached prayer (also below) from a friend this morning and immediately knew I must forward it to whosoever will hear. I sense the time is short that our nation is about to experience the whole wrath of the Lord. All who profess to know Christ and to be His followers must prepare ourselves and warn those around us. If you are a true follower of Christ please hear and consider the scripture verses cited below. We have been called - there are no others - it is time to put away the traditions and doctrines of man and to unite as His witnesses. It is NOT about denomination, it is not about Commentaries, it is not about feeling good - IT IS ABOUT being light and salt!
WE ARE THE CALLED OUT ONES THERE ARE NO OTHERS! IF NOT ME WHO? IF NOT NOW WHEN?
Please prayerfully consider the scripture verses below before the Lord - you have been created for a purpose. (Ephesians 2:10)

PLEASE READ THE EMAIL BELOW FOR THE ORIGINS OF THIS PRAYER --- PBOB

The Prayer of the Prophet Daniel Adapted for America
"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our Presidents, our politicians and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
We have become the most evil abominable and adulterous generation in the history of mankind. We have had your word and Gospel message yet we have turned away from you. We commit every kind of sin known to man: abortion, murder, pornography, adultery, pedophilia, child abuse, drug use, homosexuality and more. Yet we thumb our noses at you and pretend you don’t exist.
We allow every form of so-called religion into this great nation of yours and then demand that your name be removed from everything. O Lord, we have sinned more than anyone before us.
We think in our hearts that you don’t see what we are doing, but you know everything. We are deserving of every judgment you are ready to pour out on us, but we ask you for mercy. All your true believers unite in prayer asking for your mercy upon our land.
"Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the men and people of all America because of our unfaithfulness to you. O LORD, we and our Presidents, our politicians and our fathers are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; we have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All America has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.
"Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, will be poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. You will fulfill the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what will be done to America. Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The LORD will not hesitate to bring disaster upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.
"Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of Europe with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. O Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from America, your people, your holy place. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made America and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.
“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your land. Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the condition of the country that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your country and your people bear your Name."

Scriptures to prayerfully consider before the Lord ...
by PBob

1. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

(Joh 17:20-23 KJV)
a. Have you ever considered how the world must view "christianity" today?
b. Given the emphasis on the traditions of men, commentaries and "church" doctrine - do you think the world sees any real unity?
c. What do you suppose Jesus meant when He said, "... that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."?
2. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
(Mat 5:10-15 KJV)
a. Do you think that Jesus expected that those who do His will would be rewarded on this earth or persecuted? Perhaps the degree to which you are being persecuted for Him is in direct proportion to your obedience???
b. What did Jesus mean by, "Ye are the salt of the earth....Ye are the light of the world..."?
c. Do you think the "Church" is hidden away behind the walls of a building?

3. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

(Rom 14:13-19 KJV)
a. How should we react to those who have different "holy days" or dietary laws or ways of worship?
b. Did Jesus start any denominations? Insist on any traditions of men? Command us to obey the priest, rabbi, minister, Pope, "church"?
c. Where does the TRUTH really come from.... man? Denominations? Those with doctorates in theology? What does the Word say about the Holy Spirit?
d. Who is approved of God?

4. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

(Joh 15:16-20 KJV)
a. How much credit do you get for choosing Jesus?
b. Who gives us our marching orders?
c. What do you suppose Jesus meant by "...go and bring forth fruit,..."?
d. If you do His will how do you expect the world to react? Why?
History of this prayer: Everyone is quite familiar with the fact that America is destined for severe judgment from the Lord.
Recently I was reading from the book of Daniel and was reminded of the prayer he was praying in chapter 9 which was near the end of the Babylonian exile. Moved by the Lord to recite this prayer for the US, I copied it to my computer and made some minor changes such as putting in America where Jerusalem and Israel are in the original text.
I also added some parts relating to the way America is right now. I am not changing the Bible; I am merely taking the prayer of a righteous man and applying it to America. I have attached the prayer to this email and am asking everyone to pray this prayer for America as much as possible.
I know some have been told not to pray for America anymore. However, I do feel that this urging to pray came to me from the Lord.
If you feel lead to pray also, fine. If not, ok. I will be praying this prayer daily until something changes drastically in America or until the Lord takes us home via the Rapture or the judgment begins...
Remember the words from 2 Chronicles: If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways and seek my face, then I will hear from heaven and will heal their land."
We don't have much time to pray for this nation as everyone knows.
May 1 is the national day of prayer: I am calling on all to begin now.
Won't you join me and send this to all you know? God Bless, David G. Komatz [mailto:dgkomatz@hotmail.com]

I find it interesting that Adolf Hitler proposed two official slogans, "Politics do not belong in the church." and "The church must be separate from the state." (Ref. "The Nazi Persecution of the Churches, 1933-1945, by John S. Conway)

Where Have All The Values Gone?

Where Have All The Values Gone?

I watched the NYS Senate debate on "same sex marriage" on the internet. Where are we going as a state and a nation? One senator indicated he leaves his Bible at home when he goes to the senate...DUH! Bible, Koran, Talmud, Veda, Tipitaka – if people really believe something do you really think they leave those values home? How many voters put their values aside when they go to the polls? Have we really reached the point where, "Everyone will do what is right in their own eyes?" Why not vote on values? Do we elect people to create moral values? Is there any standard? Each of us must know by now that the interpretation of the Constitution is dependent upon who gets elected to the Supreme Court. If we want to change the constitution why not do it the way our founders intended - amendments approved by the sovereign states. We are in a struggle to determine how we as a nation will exist. "One Nation under God" or "We are no longer a Christian nation." Humanism, Post Modernism, Pluralism, etc. are all great intellectual terms. Is it possible there are no absolutes? Is it ok to euthanize someone because they are old, very sick and do not enjoy the quality of life our government deems necessary? I am frightened - I am afraid - I am concerned for our nation.

I believe that each one is given "free will" and can make their own choices - but each one should remember, "Wherever you go there you are!, and, "Choices have consequences." Live however you want but do not expect everyone to agree. Tolerance, Yes! Acceptance, No! Personally I do not expect nor do I want the government legislating morality for me!

But what do I know, I'm just a 68 year old born again retired pastor - a Bible thumping, right wing extremist, who is a Marine Corp veteran. I am proud to be an American. I am proud to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I believe in relationship with Jesus not in religion which for the most part is a bunch of manmade rules and regulations to control people. I believe The Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. I believe in the God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness without the interference of government. The Separation of Church and state was NEVER intended by our founding fathers. They intended that the state keep its nose out of church business but the the people whether in a church or not would have the freedom to make demands of the government. - DUH!

Are You A Christian?

I am becoming more and more concerned - this morning I preached on "Do you want to soar like and Eagle or quack like a duck". I emphasized the need for Christians to start being Christians - light and salt - witnesses - sound the alarmers - those crying out - etc. We can NO LONGER go to church, listen to the preacher preach and go home - we MUST understand the meaning of being His witnesses - and it is not sitting on the fence - luke warm - because HE WILL SPEW US OUT OF HIS MOUTH! We will WEEP what we sow. (Consider Galatians 6:7-10).
We MUST not be ashamed of the Gospel - we MUST die to self - we MUST get serious as to our calling before it is to late. He has set us apart - made us His priests - allowed us to enter into His Holy of Holy - washed us in the blood of the Lamb - made us citizens of His Kingdom! (Read Ephesians 1)
It's time we woke up and realized that we are no longer citizens of this world but are pilgrims passing through - We are His called out ones with a commission to bring the Gospel of the Kingdom to a dying world. Hear me as I say this - YOU ARE EITHER A CHRISTIAN (a follower of Christ) or YOU ARE PLAYING GAMES. IF YOU THINK ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO TO CHURCH - HIRE AND PAY A PREACHER AND MAKE SURE YOU AND YOURS ARE SAFE FROM PERSECUTION - THEN WAKEUP! We will be persecuted, we will be ridiculed, we will be punished, laughed at called names, etc. If none of this happening to you perhaps you need to examine your commitment to Christ - is it real or convenient???

As you read the article below ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you must respond.... How will this affect our children? What values are we PAYING the government to teach our youth? Will we have any responsibility before God if we allow our youth to be "brain washed into believing that abortion is OK - gay marriage is ok - homosexuality is OK - denying God is OK - pedophilia is OK - (if the government approves and is using our money to promote these abominations it must be right - WRONG! Taking a stand for Christ is not going to be easy but do we really have a choice....

Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that you do whatever you must do to get the attention of those whom you have called that we might have the courage to be your witnesses - to be light in the darkness - to be salt in a rotten world. Father - GET OUR ATTENTION! In the name of Jesus.

Amen

Gay Activist Named Asst. Deputy Secretary at the US Dept. of Education
05-31-2009 4:07 pm - Bob Unruh - WorldNetDaily
The founder of the homosexual activist group GLSEN, which promotes homosexual clubs in high schools, middle schools and grade schools and is the driving force behind the annual "Day of Silence" celebration of homosexuality in many districts, has been handed a federal appointment where he will be responsible for overseeing "safety" in the nation's public schools.

Linda Harvey of Mission America, which educates people on anti-Christian trends in the nation, said it is nothing more than a "tragedy" for an open homosexual who has "had an enormously detrimental impact on the climate in our schools" to be in such a position.

The appointment of Kevin Jennings was posted – with little fanfare – on a government list of federal jobs recently. He was named by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to be the Assistant Deputy Secretary in the Office of Safe Schools.

He previously worked to raise money for the presidential campaign for President Obama.

In the new post, he'll be working on "safe schools" programs for educational institutions nationwide, said Harvey.

"In his own writings and books listed on the GLSEN [Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network] Website, I've reported, Kevin Jennings has given tacit nods of approval to sex between young teens and adults," Harvey told WND. "In addition to that, the writings and books, many of which I've read and are incredibly graphic, seem to normalize early teen same-sex sexual behaviors."

"It is unconscionable. This is educational malpractice and child corruption," she said.

On Jennings' own website, a biographical sketch talks about how his work as an activist started when he used a school assembly in a district where he was a teacher to announce his homosexuality.

He soon started the GLSEN activist group and, the report said, "has spent the last 12 years building GLSEN into a national organization at the forefront of a bold movement that now works with over 3,000 Gay-Straight Alliances."

But a blogger who calls himself Beetle Blogger cited another statement from Jennings about his early promotion of homosexuality in schools.

The blogger quoted Jennings saying, "We immediately seized upon the opponent's calling card – safety – and explained how homophobia represents a threats to students' safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems, and suicide are common. Titling our report, 'Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth,' we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This … short-circuited their arguments and left them back-peddling from day one."

Harvey said the appointment really is not surprising, given the pro-homosexual position adopted by Obama and Jennings' fund-raising for the Democrat.

But she warned when "safe" is combined with "LGBT" as is happening at the federal agency, "What you have is the silencing of any conservative opinion. That's what they consider safety."

"This is an outrageous 'in-your-face, take this, we don't care about your version of safety' for kids," she said.

She also cited the introduction in Congress of H.R. 2262 by U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., which is "to amend the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act" to include pro-homosexual language that could use the issue of bullying to force indoctrination sessions for both students and teachers.

The proposed training would relate to "real or perceived" sexual orientation and gender identity, she said.

"How does this work? Well, let's look at an example from a state that already passed a similar law. In Iowa, teachers in some school districts endure the most outrageous in-service training imaginable. The Council Bluffs, Iowa, school district, Loess Hills Area Education Agency 13, gives a two-day teacher training course called 'How to Make My Classroom Safe for LGBT Students.' As part of the training, 'Videos will be used from Anderson Cooper 360, 'Will & Grace,' and several popular film segments like 'Brokeback Mountain' and 'Latter Days,''" Harvey said.

"This man's work and his agenda are exactly why we've seen the radical pro-homosexuality curriculum pushed across California. He is now more strongly positioned to implement his agenda nationwide," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

In Duncan's announcement appointing Jennings, he said GLSEN "works to make schools safe for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity."

Gay Marriage - Letter To Gov Paterson of NY

Nothing is politically right that is morally wrong

(Carved on the ceiling of the Missouri Senate Chamber.)

Open Letter to Gov Paterson

So you have finally decided to make marriage a civil right. Who died and made you God? Perhaps you agree with our President that we are no longer a Christian nation? Well, I got good news and bad news for you. The good news is you have been given by your CREATOR the gift of free will and can make choices as YOUR conscience dictates – the bad news – choices have both temporary and eternal consequences. There are still many of us (who also have been given the gift of free will) who hold some truths to be self evident and absolute – that we are endowed by our CREATOR (not the government) with certain inalienable rights. There are many who still believe that there is a God and He will reward good and punish evil. Imagine some think that if you live long enough you WILL die – AND THEN THE JUDGEMENT. That said, marriage was instituted by God as a covenant relationship between a man and a woman for (imagine) the procreation, education and protection of children (family). It does not take a whole lot of intelligence to figure out that man and woman were created (not evolved) to have sexual relationships with one another. I should know – I have 4 children, 11 grand children and one great grand child. Besides I have a PhD in Medical Biochemistry and actually studied human anatomy - DUH. I am NOT OPPOSED to each person’s right to make choices I am just against the government or anyone else making me, my children, grandchildren and grand grandchild accept, and pay for life choices that are against our basic Christian beliefs. – AND if any consider me homophobic – I AM NOT – perhaps they are Christophobic. Finally, I firmly believe that our nation WILL WEEP what it is sowing if we continue to make and uphold laws which assume there is no God. If the evolutionist really believes we are nothing more than animals with intelligence than where will the line be drawn – could it turn into a time of BIG BROTHER.

But – what do I know? I’m just a 67 year old, 210 lb, right wing, prolife, Bible Thumping, Christ following, radical USMC veteran, and retired pastor who was educated in the Dark Ages when people actually believed and were taught that there were absolute truths like: parental rights, God, Heaven, Hell, and that as citizens of these United States we have the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness without a government guarantee. Imagine believing that our government is of the people, for the people and by the people. Image the stupidity of believing a statement like, “Give me liberty or give me death!” I am sure glad that someone has decided that there is no God and that men should be governed and controlled by men with power, money and influence and great oratory ability. Image if people had real freedom – they might think they have the right to protest – or even have Tea Parties.

WAKEUP CHURCH - LAKELAND REVIVAL

Please Go To The Link Below - An Article Written By Dutch Sheets
http://www.dutchsheets.org/index.cfm
I am sending this as I respect and thank God for the ministry of Dutch Sheets. I know some of you were upset with me for sending information about Todd Bentley provided by Andrew Strom. (LIFE AFTER LAKELAND: Sorting Out the Confusion -by J. Lee Grady) Please believe me when I say - I did not do this "lightly". As I have sought the Lord concerning these things I am constantly reminded that many "christians"are sooooooo blind to false teaching and deception - especially in these times. I have read this article by Dutch Sheets and certainly agree with it.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ it is time to WAKEUP and be HIS WITNESSES. We are the light and the salt - chosen and appointed by God to be His representatives. As we move forward I urge each one to prayerfully read Ezekiel 33 and seek the Lord. Finally, I am so hurt by what I hear and see from the world with respect to the "christian" church. Not only can we not walk in unity with the Holy Spirit but we continue to portray to the world disunity and hypocracy - being so concerned with our own denominations and nondenominations - our traditions and doctrine that we have become more and more ineffective in bringing the "message of salvation" to a dying world. THE CROSS OF CHRIST!
I do not ask that you agree with me - I ask and pray that as followers of Christ and His representatives that we seriously seek the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the truth - forget the commentaries. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God - not by reading commentaries or believing everything that is presented to us by "those who have been trained in cemetery (seminary)". This may sound harsh but so many I know somehow believe if they only do what the priest, pastor, etc. tell them then all will be fine. Each of us is to work out our salvation in fear and trembling. Jesus is the WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE - THE TRUTH IS REVEALED TO US BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. THERE IS NOT OTHER WAY!

John 17: 20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

A response to my controversial e-mail by John Anderson of Cry Ministry
Bob,
Thanks for forwarding the story by Lee Grady. And beloved brother, do not apologize for not wanting to hurt a servant of the Lord: shepherds have their first responsibility to the sheep, to care for them and protect them --- Jesus said to Peter (and us all) three times "Feed my lambs." "Care for my sheep." "Feed my sheep." Shepherds by the way do not to kiss wolves, they kill them, and perhaps die in the process.
I am also saddened, but I am also very angry in several directions: One, toward the absolutely abominable lack of discernment that continues to reign in the Charismatic world. Esther and I have also said for years that the Charismatic movement would be among the first to embrace the anti-Christ. Biblical exposition of Scripture is virtually non-existent among us --- and I believe that the prospect for biblical revival lies with Spirit-anointed expositors. Enough of this madness.
While I heartily agree with Lee Grady's analysis, I strongly disagree with one point: I do not believe our problems are because we are hungry for God and are gullible. No, the problem is I don't believe there is a love for the truth among us. My dear friend, the late Derek Prince (with whom I strongly differed over demon possession) warned that we must first love the truth or we will as II Thessalonians 2 says, we will be given up to believe a lie.
The second way I am angry is at so-called Charismatic leaders like Peter Wagner, Che Ahn, Bill Johnson, and John Arnott, who so strongly endorsed Todd Bentley, and bear deep responsibility before our Lord for their lack of discernment. Years ago I could not agree with the direction of Peter Wagner: the other men I do not really know that well.
But I am also angry at myself for not being more vocal and outspoken.
The path of revival will be the path of humility, brokenness, repentance, not flash and dash or as Grady says, "swallow and follow." We will repent of making idols of so-called signs and wonders and power "Christianity," celebrities, methodologies (such as seeker-friendly, purpose-driven, prosperity, motivation, success, etc.)
And we as Christian leaders will lead the way in repentance, asking forgiveness of our Lord for not being true shepherds. And then publicly repenting before the Body of Christ and asking their forgiveness for being false shepherds.. This is no time for any of us to try to save face. God will not send true revival if we do this. This is a time to come clean, that is if we are really sincere in wanting biblical revival. The Charismatic movement, sadly, is known by false shepherds.
Could say more, but must run. Let us stay in touch.
Oh, and by the way, Esther and I just returned from ministry in Europe last night. And we were continually asked about the things discussed above.
Much love to you and Gloria. And to others you may be in contact with.
Joyously,
John Anderson

Please note that I am sending this e-mail not to hurt a servant of the Lord but to ask each of you to seriously consider seeking the Word of God and the Holy Spirit for discernment - especially in these times. The Bible tells us that the Bereans were noble believers because they studied the Scriptures daily “to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11, NASB).

Again please do not be offended but DO study the Word and seek the Holy Spirit for discernment. Please pray for Todd Bentley and his wife and family.
Ask yourself - if you did not know Jesus as Lord and Savior - if you were not filled with the Holy Spirit and you read about what has taken place would you run out an become a Christian????

Subject: [revival] LEE GRADY on THIS WEEK's DISASTER

LIFE AFTER LAKELAND: Sorting Out the Confusion -by J. Lee Grady.

Todd Bentley’s announcement that his marriage is ending has thrown our movement into a tailspin—and questions need to be answered.

It was not supposed to end like this.

Evangelist Todd Bentley had heralded the Lakeland revival as the greatest Pentecostal outpouring since Azusa Street. From his stage in a gigantic tent in Florida, Bentley preached to thousands, bringing many of them to the stage for prayer. Many claimed to be healed of deafness, blindness, heart problems, depression and dozens of other conditions in the Lakeland services, which ran for more than 100 consecutive nights. Bentley announced confidently that dozens of people had been raised from the dead during the revival.

But this week, a few days after the Canadian preacher announced the end of his visits to Lakeland, he told his staff that his marriage is ending. Without blaming the pace of the revival for Bentley’s personal problems, his board released a public statement saying that he and his wife, Shonnah, are separating. The news shocked Bentley’s adoring fans and saddened those who have questioned his credibility since the Lakeland movement erupted in early April.

I’m sad. I’m disappointed. And I’m angry. Here are few of my many, many questions about this fiasco:

Why did so many people flock to Lakeland from around the world to rally behind an evangelist who had serious credibility issues from the beginning?

To put it bluntly, we’re just plain gullible.

From the first week of the Lakeland revival, many discerning Christians raised questions about Bentley’s beliefs and practices.
They felt uneasy when he said he talked to an angel in his hotel room. They sensed something amiss when he wore a T-shirt with a skeleton on it. They wondered why a man of God would cover himself with tattoos. They were horrified when they heard him describe how he tackled a man and knocked his tooth out during prayer.

But among those who jumped on the Lakeland bandwagon, discernment was discouraged. They were expected to swallow and follow. The message was clear: “This is God. Don’t question.”
So before we could all say, “Sheeka Boomba” (as Bentley often prayed from his pulpit), many people went home, prayed for people and shoved them to the floor with reckless abandon, Bentley-style.

I blame this lack of discernment, partly, on raw zeal for God. We’re spiritual hungry—which can be a good thing. But sometimes, hungry people will eat anything.

Many of us would rather watch a noisy demonstration of miracles, signs and wonders than have a quiet Bible study.. Yet we are faced today with the sad reality that our untempered zeal is a sign of immaturity. Our adolescent craving for the wild and crazy makes us do stupid things. It’s way past time for us to grow up.

Why didn’t anyone in Lakeland denounce the favorable comments Bentley made about William Branham?

This one baffles me. Branham embraced horrible deception near the end of his ministry... and his strange doctrines are still embraced by a cultlike following today...

Why didn’t anyone correct this error from the pulpit? Godly leaders are supposed to protect the sheep from heresy, not spoon feed deception to them. Only God knows how far this poison traveled from Lakeland to take root elsewhere. May God forgive us for allowing His Word to be so flippantly contaminated.

A prominent Pentecostal evangelist called me this week after Bentley’s news hit the fan. He said to me: “I’m now convinced that a large segment of the charismatic church will follow the anti-Christ when he shows up because they have no discernment.” Ouch.
Hopefully we’ll learn our lesson this time and apply the necessary caution when an imposter shows up.

Why did God TV tell people that “any criticism of Todd Bentley is demonic”?

This ridiculous statement was actually made on one of God TV’s pre-shows. In fact, the network’s hosts also warned listeners that if they listened to criticism of Bentley, they could lose their healings.

This is cultic manipulation at its worst. The Bible tells us that the Bereans were noble believers because they studied the Scriptures daily “to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11, NASB).
Yet in the case of Lakeland, honest intellectual inquiry was viewed as a sign of weakness. People were expected to jump first and then open their eyes.

Just because we believe in the power of the Holy Spirit does not mean we check our brains at the church door. We are commanded to test the spirits. Jesus wants us to love Him with our hearts and our minds.

Because of the Lakeland scandal, there may be large numbers of people who feel they’ve been burned by Bentley. Some may give up on church and join the growing ranks of bitter, disenfranchised Christians. Others may suffer total spiritual shipwreck. This could have been avoided if leaders had been more vocal about their objections and urged people to evaluate spiritual experiences through the filter of God’s Word.

Why did a group of respected ministers lay hands on Bentley on June 23 and publicly ordain him? Did they know of his personal problems?

This controversial ceremony was organized by Peter Wagner, who felt that one of Bentley’s greatest needs was proper spiritual covering. He asked California pastors Che Ahn and Bill Johnson, along with Canadian pastor John Arnott, to lay hands on Bentley and bring him under their care.

Bentley certainly needs such covering. No one in ministry today should be out on their own, living in isolation without checks, balances and wise counsel. It was commendable that Wagner reached out to Bentley and that Bentley acknowledged his need for spiritual fathers by agreeing to submit to the process. The question remains, however, whether it was wise to commend Bentley during a televised commissioning service that at times seemed more like a king’s coronation.

In hindsight, we can all see that it would have been better to take Bentley into a back room and talk about his personal issues.

The Bible tells us that ordination of a minister is a sober responsibility. Paul wrote: “Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others”
(1 Tim. 5:22). We might be tempted to rush the process, but the apostle warned against fast-tracking ordination—and he said that those who commission a minister who is not ready for the job will bear some of the blame for his failures.

I trust that Wagner, Ahn, Johnson and Arnott didn’t know of Bentley’s problems before they ordained him. I am sure they are saddened by the events of this week and are reaching out to Bentley and his wife to promote healing and restoration. But I believe that they, along with Bentley and the owners of God TV, owe the body of Christ a forthright, public apology for thrusting Bentley’s ministry into the spotlight prematurely. (Perhaps such an apology should be aired on God TV.)

Can anything good come out of this?

That depends on how people respond. If the men assigned to oversee Bentley offer loving but firm correction, and if Bentley responds humbly to the process by stepping out of ministry for a season of rehabilitation, we could witness a healthy case of church discipline play out the way it is supposed to. If all those who were so eager to promote Bentley now rush just as fast to repent for their errors in judgment, then the rest of us could breathe a huge sigh of relief—and the credibility of our movement could be restored.

I still believe that God desires to visit our nation in supernatural power. I know He wants to heal multitudes, and I will continue praying for a healing revival to sweep across the United States.
But we must contend for the genuine, not an imitation. True revival will be accompanied by brokenness, humility, reverence and repentance—not the arrogance, showmanship and empty hype that often was on display in Lakeland.

We are weathering an unprecedented season of moral failure and spiritual compromise in our nation today. I urge everyone in the charismatic world to pray for Bentley; his wife, Shonnah; his three young children; Bentley’s ministry staff; and the men and women who serve as his counselors and advisers. Let’s pray that God will turn this embarrassing debacle into an opportunity for miraculous restoration.

OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO LIFE - LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

I received an e-mail which is below my thoughts describing how Prime Minister John Howard of Australia responded to immigrants who have no intention of becoming Australians. I went to www.snopes.com and they confirmed the truthfulness of this e-mail. Below are thoughts that came to me as I read this article.

OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO LIFE - LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
by PBob

I personally verified that this is true - in fact I sent an e-mail to Prime Minister John Howard and he responded thanking me. I definitely am not against any one coming to our nation - legally - but if they want to come here to force their religion, etc. on me I will fight back with every lawful tool I have. In the case of Islam - if they want to live under Sharia Law - leave and go to a place where it is legal and that is want they do. Personally I feel that way about any religion including Christians who may think God has given them the right to shove their beliefs down anyone's throat. Yes, we have been founded as a nation under Judeo-Christian principles but those based on the Bible (which I believe to be the infallible, revealed word of God to man) not those based on the various interpretations provided by man - denominations, commentaries, etc. Just so all (my friends?) understand - I am and can be provocative, opinionated, etc. but I really do believe that it is not my mission or anyone else's to convict anyone of sin or to be the judge. That is the function of the Holy spirit and of Jesus. If our nation supports a law contrary to Biblical principles I will disobey it if necessary and I will use every legitimate way to change that law. If I do not succeed - that is not my problem - God will be the final judge.
Finally, I need to express my own definition of most religion,"A lot of man made rules and regulations to control people." Jesus had a problem with Pharisees and so do I. As a follower of Christ - the bottom line as I see it is:
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Mat 28:18-20)
It is my understanding (from the Bible) that this is to be done with LOVE (agape love - 1 Corinthians 13) and that in the process of being His witness I will experience persecution.

"These things I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept My saying, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. ...." and following. (John 15:17-21ff)

Any religion or movement that tries to justify it's methods by claiming that God has called them to kill, harm, or cause pain and suffering to others is NOT, in my opinion, following God - they are following their own selfish interests and their political philosophy is mainly - "He with the biggest guns wins." and "I will do what is right in my own eyes." As for me - the God I serve is a Just God, A Merciful God and a Loving God. I will attempt as I am able to serve Him and Him only.

When confronted with, "There is no absolute truth." by an individual some years ago, I stated: "I know three absolute truths. 1. The longer you live the older you get and there is nothing you can do about it; 2. If you live long enough you do not get out of this alive; 3. The death rate among all mankind regardless of faith, race, sex, sexual orientation, color, education, money on the bank, color of eyes, etc. is 100%." Then I ask, "WHAT IF THE BIBLE IS TRUE?" I do not intend nor do I desire to debate, argue or persuade. I have, in my opinion, provided the message - what the individual does with it is now their responsibility. However, I will be available as the Lord leads to answer questions and to be helpful. Relationship is key before I feel I can express all my thoughts and feelings without causing a misunderstanding.

Now obviously, there are a lot of areas that we can spend time discussing - tolerance - how to educate our youth - what church to go to - equal rights - same sex marriage - et., etc., etc., Any society that will continue to survive, in my opinion, must set standards and rules to live by. We have been given , by our Creator, the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness - everyone should have these rights - they are not given by the government and cannot be taken away by the government. If the people choose or allow something other that this than they will WEEP what they have sown.

Is it possible to solve all our human issues - I think not. Is is possible to love and respect one another as the Creator intended - YES! The choice is ours. To often we judge others by the law not by grace. None of us really knows what another has experienced or inherited in their lives - we have no real knowledge of what advantages (talents, etc) or problems (pychological, disease or handicap) exist in their lives as a result of nature or nurture.

Several years ago I asked God< "Why so much pain and suffering?" It was a time in my life when I was angry with God and thought it would be a good time to talk with Him about it. (By the way - that is as much prayer as burning incense or using King James language!) I believe He revealed the following to me. I can't remember now whether it was something I read or heard in my heart but in any case it made sense to me.

WHY PAIN AND SUFFERING? I believe God spoke the following to me...

1. I have created each person in My image and have given them a free will and he can make choices. Many choose to make choices that will cause them pain and suffering. I allow this. However, I have given my Word to man to tell him of My desires and I have sent My Son to bear witness of what My will is for them.

2. I have given all mankind a free will and they can make choices. Many choose to make choices that cause others pain and suffering - even if they do not know them. I also allow this. I will one day judge the choices of all men and will reward or punish them according to their works. For I am God and I sit in the heavens and do whatever I please. (Psalm 115:3)

3. I have allowed satan to test man and bring pain and suffering into the world. "Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour; whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood. (1Pe 5:8-9ff) I have revealed to all: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Eph 6:12). Know that I have provided my armor for this battle. "Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." (Eph 6:10-11) (Read also Ephesians 6:13 - 6:20) I also believe (my theology) that satan cannot test anyone who has given his life to the Lord, through repentance and forgiveness, unless he is allowed to do so for God's purposes. (Read the book of Job Chapter 1) "And Jehovah said to satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only do not lay your hand upon him. And satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah." (Job 1:12) As a good and loving Father the Lord chastises and disciplines those whom He loves. "My son, do not despise the chastening of Jehovah; nor be weary with His correction; for whom Jehovah loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. (Pro 3:11-12) In my opinion, satan is like a puppet on a string and can only do what God allows him to do - and he does not have the ability to read our minds or hearts.

4. I warned and have carried out my justice against man because of His disobedience (sin) against me. In Genesis 2:17 God said, "...but you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." The Bible tells us that all of creation is in a turmoil because of sin. For the creation was not willingly subjected to vanity, but because of Him who subjected it on hope that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. And we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. (Rom 8:20-22)

I have also provided complete restoration as a gift to all men through my son. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God." (Joh 3:16-18)

God did not create man and the earth so that we could suffer pain and death. He did not intend that there be chaos in creation resulting in disease, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, etc. He did not intend that the lion would eat the lamb, etc. These things are a result of man's disobedience. Now, I know, some will say that is not fair. It is important to remember that God is Just, He is not fair by man's standards - whatever they are. In fact, that bumper sticker that says, "God Said It - I Believe It - That Settles It" is not quite correct. It should be, "God Said It - That Settles It". Whether you believe it or not really makes no difference.

Finally...

5. I am the Lord and I sit in the heavens and do whatever I please. (Psalm 115:3) I discipline and chastise those whom I love. I am able to do this in any way I choose - I may allow satan to test you - I may allow other men to test you - I may allow my creation to test you - I may allow circumstances to test you. I only do this that you might know my love. For I have revealed to you, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (Rom 8:28)

I don't really know how I got into all this but I guess it is one of the advantages of being a retired senior citizen with the option to use my time as I desire - I prefer to think "as the Lord leads" but ...

I don't know if this is a true transcript but I certainly believe in the principals it conveys

If you immigrate to a country it is because you wish to live in freedom and make a better

life for your family. We will not stop you from practicing your religious beliefs as long as they do not

interfere with the countries constitutional rights and laws. Do not come here and try to tell us we should not

display religious symbols in our schools and other institutions or have the right to prayer, instead you should

ask for the right to display your religious symbols and have the right to your prayers. If you do not wish to

live with us in peace and harmony you are free to go and live elsewhere.

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television

"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."

"However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia " "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."

"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom"

"We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!"

"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."

"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."

"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.

"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'."

"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."
